This year we are trying a new format and introducing an Idol Competition!
Shine bright on the stage, engage the audience in your sensational performance, and get a chance to live out your Idol dream on stage!
MagicOn Idol stage is the place where you can dance to your heart’s content!
As an Idol, you will get the chance to perform covers from your favorite groups and artists. We welcome all who want to perform under the idol genre, including solo performers and groups.
There will be a tech test for participants. Remember to be on time and read the information below.

About the Idol genre and how to sign up
The idol genre is predominantly defined by Japanese pop music and adjacent genres that feature idol singers and performers.
This also extends to Japanese music that generally has an idol aspect to it, without necessarily being J-pop (Example: AKB48, μ’s, Aquors, Vocaloid, Babymetal and other sub-genres).
How to sign up:
You can sign up in the form that will open on the 19th of April.
How long do we have on stage?
You will have 5 minutes on stage to dance to any j-pop songs you like as long as it’s within 5 minutes.
Tech test:
There will be a tech test on the day of the show. The contestants are responsible for showing up on time at the main stage for the tech test.

1.Participation
This competition is for solo contestants and groups
Groups can have a maximum of 10 people
There are 8 spots available
There will be a 1st place and a runner-up to this competition
2.Rules for the costumes
Only cosplay costumes based on characters from published/official visual media are allowed. The cosplay can be from any type of media such as cartoons, webtoons, anime, games and movies or costumes from the idol genre. Original characters are not allowed.
Both the cosplay and performance has to be PG13.
There will be no pre-judging for this competition. In this competition, the emphasis is primarily on performance. The focus is on how the costume looks when viewed from the audience.
The costumes do not have to be self-made. Commissioned and purchased costumes are welcome!
3. Rules for the performance
– The contestants have a maximum of 5 minutes on stage.
– You can’t use a microphone for your performance and all sound has to be pre-recorded.
– All media you need for the performance, such as sound or video, must be submitted by the end of the day on the 16th of May. You will be disqualified if you don’t submit your media on time.
– If you have video/images and audio, it has to be in .mp4 format. You can only submit one file.
– Confetti, liquids, fireworks/firecrackers etc, are not allowed. Anything you bring onto the stage must also be brought off the stage again. Weapon/Prop rules must be followed at all times.
– Show up on time or you may lose your spot.
4. Information about the stage and screen
– The screen behind the stage is 12×6,72 meters for 16:9 format, and it hangs 2m above the stage floor.
– The stage size and dimensions are 22m wide on the front of the stage and 13m wide in the back of the stage and it is 11,5m deep. 22m x 13m x 11,5m.

5. Tech test
The tech test is on the day of the competition (21. June), time will be given at a later date.
The contestants are responsible for showing up for the tech test at the main stage.
Show up on time or you may lose your spot.
The maximum length of the tech test is 5 minutes for each performance.
The goal is for you to get the feel of the stage.
*Likeness
The judges will only evaluate how how the competitor is using the costume to achieve likeness to the character it is based on. The costume will only be judged on how it looks from the view of the audience. Factors such as gender, height, weight, skin colour, or similar aspects are not to be taken into consideration.
