Information about Magicon
Magicon is a convention in the Oslo area, launched in 2022. The con is created for nerds, by nerds.
If you like cosplay, drag, board games, role play, k-pop, computer games or other parts of pop culture – Magicon is for you! Magicon is a place where anyone can gather regardless of fandom, age, interests and experience, a place where you’ll meet new and old friends, learn new things, and have an amazing time.
We’re planning a varied schedule that will appeal to both cosplayers and people with interests in all kinds of pop and nerd culture. Our schedule is constantly being developed but we can confirm that there’ll be cosplay competitions for all experience levels, along with other fun competitions. And of course; innovative talks, interactive workshops, exciting stands and loads more!
What is cosplay?
Cosplay is a creative hobby where the purpose is dressing up as characters from movies, tv shows, games, literature or other pop culture. Some people design and construct their own costumes while others prefer buying finished products. The most important thing about cosplay is that you’re able to have fun and express yourself in a safe environment.
The word ‘CosPlay’ is a combination of the words ‘Costume’ and ‘Roleplay’. Some people lean more towards the costume aspect itself – and prefer to dress up, hang around with friends and take cool pictures. Other people prefer the roleplay part and enjoy acting out the character’s personality, producing skits or stage shows that they can perform at events like MagiCon. Some cosplayers incorporate both aspects equally. All forms of cosplay are accepted and welcome at Magicon.

Important to know:
At Magicon we put comfort and safety at the top of our list. We want to host an event where everyone is comfortable and where everyone has an enjoyable experience. To make this happen it’s important that you as a parent know the following:
The Magicon organizers are super passionate about cosplay, and many of our participants spend a considerate amount of time making and perfecting their costumes. You’re therefore not allowed to touch other people’s costumes without consent, and you’re also not allowed to take pictures of costumes or characters without the person’s permission.
The event is for all ages and we encourage everyone to participate. Magicon also operates a strict no drugs policy.
In order to enjoy the event in the best possible way we encourage you to familiarize yourself with our rules and that you explain these to your child so they know what to expect.
If your child is a minor it is up to you as their parent to take responsibility for any issues that may arise between the Organiser and your child.
Magicon’s crew members consist of loyal and committed people who are there to make sure everyone has a great experience, but they do not have capacity to accompany individual visitors. There’s no age limit, however children under the age of 14 need to bring a guardian.
